Q: Which wire is the positive and which one is the negative when connecting the DisplayIT ?
A: The DisplayIT can be connected in any way to the car's battery. The DisplayIT will automatically correct the voltage internally. In other words.... It doesn't matter!
Q: What kind of fuse must I use to connect the DisplayIT ?
A: You can use a 250mA fuse. Also note that the DisplayIT has an internal self-resettable fuse for added protection.
Q: How do I program my transponder number in the DisplayIT ?
A: Power the DisplayIT and after 5 seconds press and hold the left button for approximately 5 seconds, this will bring the transponder entry screen. Use the right button to change the digit and the left button to scroll to the next digit. IMPORTANT: The transponder number is entered from right to left. Once you are done scroll through the leading zeros until the DisplayIT returns to the main screen.
Q: The organization I race with doesn't have the required hardware to support the DisplayIT
A: Contact Blind Apex and we will ship the organization the data transmitter.
Q: Does the DisplayIT require a special software in the timing room ?
A: NO. The DisplayIT only requires that the Blind Apex data transmitter is connected to the main timing system. The timing computer doesn't even need to be running (ideal for practice sessions when the timing crew is not monitoring the system)
Q: My DisplayIT is not receiving lap information but my transponder is working....
A: Make sure your transponder number is entered properly in the DisplayIT, make sure the timing and scoring crew is using the Blind Apex data transmitter connected to their timing system (They might have forgotten to connect it!) and make sure that your DisplayIT is properly mounted in a position that will maximize reception of the data from the timing room. If you are still not receiving data contact us and we will fix the problem!
Q: Is the DisplayIT waterproof ?
A: The DisplayIT can be used under rain conditions and will survive a complete immersion in water for a short period of time. However it was designed for motorsport racing and not for scuba diving.
Q: How many laps will the DisplayIT store ?
A: Early models will store 9 laps and more recent models support 34. We will gladly upgrade your unit from 9 to 34 laps if you send it to us.
Q: Who makes the DisplayIT ? There's a Blind Apex logo and an AMB logo on it...
A: The DisplayIT is designed, manufactured and sold by Blind Apex inc.
Q: How are laps numbered when scrolling lap times ?
A: When scrolling lap times the DisplayIT will label them using the actual lap number of that session. If you do 2 sessions of 4 laps the laps will be labeled: 0,1,2,3,0,1,2,3. This might give you the impression that the DisplayIT is only storing 4 laps but this is also a good way to separate sessions.
